About the event
On the cusp of spring, our backyards are changing rapidly. White snow makes way for green foliage. Spring flowers emerge, blanketing the world in colors, and wildlife awakens from hibernation - or returns from spending the winter months in warmer climates. Twan Leenders, Director of Conservation for the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy, will talk about the amazing journeys that migratory birds engage on each year and will get us ready for the arrival of dozens of different species of colorful backyard birds over the course of the next few weeks. Twan is a federally licensed bird bander and even studies birds in his Jamestown backyard - his experience may inspire you to look a little closer at your own backyard and nearby natural areas to find some unexpected neighbors. (Spoiler alert! He has identified more than 150 bird species around his home so far!) The birds are coming, and you better get ready!
