About the event
Join us for an on-water citizen science survey on Wednesday, August 16th at 1pm!
We’ll start out with covering the basics of Chautauqua Lake’s known and new invasive species, how to document sightings of them, and how to report them using iMapInvasives. We’ll then search for aquatic invasive species (AIS) in the Bemus Point and Long Point State Park area and, if any are found, record their location and carefully remove them. We'll launch from Bemus Point.
Participation is free but limited to 10 paddlers. If you are interested in joining us, please RSVP to our Seasonal AIS Coordinator Sandra Emke at ais@chautauquawatershed.org.
Please note:
- Participants will need to bring his/her own kayak or canoe and personal protective equipment (life jackets).
- The date/time is weather permitting. Any changes will be noted on our website and social media.
