About the event
Join us for a guided, leisurely snowshoe walk and campfire gathering at our Cassadaga Creek Wetland Preserve on Saturday, February 4th from 4:15 PM to 6:00 PM. Our Director of Conservation, Twan Leenders, will lead the walk (weather permitting) beginning at 4:30 PM. Non-snowshoers can remain by the campfire and socialize with other CWC staff and attendees during the walk time. After the tour, all are invited to stay and warm up by the fire and enjoy complementary hot chocolate and coffee. Attendees are welcome to bring their own beverage and a snack or a snack to pass if desired as well as a chair for sitting around the fire. (If there is no snow, a regular nature walk will be held without snowshoes, and the campfire will go on as planned.)
The preserve is located on Bloomer Road off County Route 380 between Harvey Road and South Stockton-Cassadaga Road (County Route 71). GPS coordinates for the preserve are 42°14'37.2"N 79°18'31.0"W. Directions can also be found at chautauquawatershed.org/preserves. Participants should note that the preserve is not accessible from the Sinclair Road/Route 60 side.
The event is open to the public and free for CWC members, with suggested donations for non-members of $5 for individuals or $10 per family. Attendees will need to rent or bring their own snowshoes. RSVPs are required and can be made by calling 716-664-2166 x1001 or emailing info@chautauquawatershed.org with a contact name, number of people attending, phone number and email address.
