About the event

Join us for a guided birding walk on Friday, May 31st, from 8:30 to 10 AM at our Cassadaga Lakes Nature Park in Cassadaga on Route 60!

The 77-acre nature park is one of the most bird-diverse locations in Chautauqua County, with more than 175 different bird species identified there so far. Because of this, the park was recently added by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as a destination on its NYS Birding Trail. Our Director of Conservation, Twan Leenders, will lead the tour and assist with bird identification as well as discuss the importance of water quality and protected lands (like CLNP) to both year-round and migrating birds. The entrance to the park is located on Route 60 between Tim Horton’s and Camp Gross.

Space is limited for the walk. RSVPs are requested and can be made by calling 716-664-2166 x1001 or emailing info@chautauquawatershed.org. Please include a contact name, number of attendees, and a phone number or email. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and cameras and dress appropriately for typical wet conditions of a wooded wetland.

The walk is co-sponsored by our friends at the Chautauqua-Warren Birding Association.
