PGA Pro-Am Golf Tournament to Benefit CWC

Member Appreciation

Join CWC on Friday, June 24th from 4:00 to 6:30 PM for its annual member appreciation event! This year's event will again be held at The Art Loft, 4994 West lake Road (Route 394) in Mayville. Come explore the one-of-a kind art gallery and meet CWC board directors, staff and fellow conservationists. Learn more about current and upcoming lake and watershed projects and events. Enjoy complimentary food, wine and other refreshments. The Art Loft will generously donate 10% of the proceeds from any sales during the event to the CWC!

Beaver Swamp Hike at the Chautauqua Creek East Branch Preserve

Join us on Friday, August 9th from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM for a tour of the beaver swamp area of our Chautauqua Creek East Branch Preserve, which is located on Mayville-Sherman Road (Route 430) in the Town of Chautauqua, just outside of Summerdale opposite Red Wing Road. This 21.6-acre preserve is in the headwaters of the watershed that supplies the Village of Westfield with its municipal water supply. The tour will be led by preserve manager Jay Stratton, a CWC member who generously donated the site to the Conservancy in 2005. He is a teacher, native of Westfield, and lifelong researcher of the plants, wildlife and people associated with Chautauqua Creek and Gorge. He and his family have founded the Ganowungo Trust, a fund at the Conservancy to conserve the Chautauqua Gorge and its old growth forests. This tour is open to the public, with a suggested $5 donation from non-members. Those interested in attending should wear appropriate wetland footwear and pre-register for the hike by calling 664-2166 or emailing info@chautauquawatershed.org.
